They're about connecting with nature, discovering hidden viewpoints, local stories, and enjoying the journey. Respect for nature and local communities is at the heart of everything we do.

A Brief History of Boka & Its Gems

The Bay of Kotor — or simply Boka — is much more than a picturesque corner of the Adriatic. It's a living mosaic of nature, culture, and centuries of human stories carved into stone and mountain. Hiking through Boka isn't just about breathtaking views — it's about walking in the footsteps of empires and generations who once called these peaks home.

Vrmac Fortress

One of the region’s most captivating relics is the Vrmac Fortress, perched between Kotor and Tivat. Built by the Austro-Hungarians in the 19th century, it once guarded strategic mountain passes. Today, it's a hiker’s reward — a mix of overgrown trails, mysterious tunnels, and unforgettable panoramas.

Mount Lovćen

As we move inland, the mighty Mount Lovćen rises — a symbol of Montenegrin pride and resilience. Its craggy peaks are home to the Mausoleum of Petar II Petrović Njegoš, Montenegro’s most beloved ruler, philosopher, and poet. From here, on a clear day, your eyes can sweep from the mountains to the sea, and even as far as Italy.

Njeguši Village

On the way to Lovćen lies Njeguši, a timeless village nestled in the hills, where the air is thick with the scent of pine and smoked prosciutto. This is a place where tradition still lives in every stone cottage and family recipe.

Pestingrad

High above the bay, Pestingrad stands as a mighty rock outcrop offering what many call the most beautiful view of the entire Boka region. The hike to this panoramic perch leads you through peaceful pine woods and wild mountain paths, ending at a breathtaking cliffside where silence, sky, and scenery blend into one unforgettable moment.

Spiljari

Špiljari, located just behind San Djovani, is the first historical settlement above Kotor. Easily accessible, this peaceful village preserves traces of the past—an old church, the ruins of stone houses, and the spirit of a simpler life. While exploring, you can enjoy local delights like homemade pomegranate juice, rakija, and goat cheese, offered by friendly locals who keep tradition alive.

Mali Zalazi

Mali Zalazi is a secluded village tucked away in a quiet valley behind the hills above Kotor. Hidden from the bay and surrounded by untouched nature, it offers a glimpse into traditional mountain life. With its stone houses, terraced fields, and peaceful silence, the village feels like a forgotten world, perfect for those seeking solitude and authenticity.

Each step through Boka’s trails connects you to something deeper — a sense of place, memory, and wonder. The fortresses, peaks, and villages may be still, but their stories echo loud in the silence of nature.
